Skylet has a wonderfully vintage look to her brand, and we wanted the music video to match that, as well as her femme fatale lyrics. The first image I imagined for the video was the look of old photo booth polaroids and film strips. I wanted the old Hollywood soft, glam lighting, with film grain to match the look of the era (thank you Sam Slade, DP & colorist).
We reference The Graduate with the leg shot, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly with close ups on eyes and crash zooms, and more. I give a huge shout out to the team for the collaborative effort – the music video works because of the intricate and brilliant editing of Danielle Diaz. A music video is meant to capture the essence of a song and accentuate the musicalities and lyrics, and we love that this music video conveys the energy and power that Skylet and her music emanates.
